Finding Peace in the Holidays

There are less than 10 days right now till Christmas, and I haven’t wrapped the first present. I just finished gift inventory and realized I was horrifically short on the to-give list! I have cookies to bake, rooms to clean, performances to give and attend, and just all the holiday stuff still to do!

The last minute hustle and bustle definitely has me like a long-tailed cat in a room full of rocking chairs. And it just doesn’t “feel” like “Christmas”.

And that is not the kind of life God intended us to live. That is not the kind of like Jesus humbled and sacrificed himself for us to have – to live – for Him.

So if you’re feeling like I am today, sister, I pray you’ll stop for a moment with me. Let’s put our hands down, put our thoughts on pause. Even in the middle of traffic or ringing phones, breathe quietly and find this peace that Jesus has given us.

Peace I leave with you. My Peace I give to you.

In this season where we remember His birth as He came for the propitiation of our sins, to reconcile us to the Father – quiet your heart, your mind, your soul, your body. His peace is like none other. It surpasses all understanding as it washes over you. Feel His peace surround you.

Not as the world gives. Your heart must not be troubled or fearful.

And forget about the burnt cookies. The imperfectly wrapped presents. Finding the perfect accessories for your party outfit or whether you bought gifts. Your presence in HIS presence is gift enough for this moment.

And in the next moment, take His Spirit with you as you become fully present with your husband, children, friends, co-workers, clients, customers, passersby. And share His Living Grace with the world.
